Purge Records With Confidence

• Exceptions to the Rule Create and manage purge rule exceptions including legal hold, RAC audit, clinical research, or other situations which might prevent a medical record from being destroyed.
• Automatic or Manual Setup Create automatic purge rules by establishing eligible records and queues at a scheduled time. Or opt for manual purging and dictate when the process will take place, and which rules it will follow.
• Proof of Purge Obtain certificates of destruction to prove that a record existed at some point in the system, including the reason, date, and time of purge (i.e., the record reached the 10-year retention period on 12/31/22 at 10:00 am ET).
• Delay/Un-Purging Once a purge routine is processed, it may be un-purged for a user-defined delay period. Once the purge delay expires,, the record is hard purged and deleted from the archive per the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) guidelines.
