Develop a Strategy for Legacy Data

When implementing or consolidating to a new go-forward EHR (Oracle Health or others), defining a sound legacy data strategy is best practice.  Some first steps to consider:

  • Take a System Inventory
Capture the details of the source systems you plan to retire. Our inventory tool logs legacy system details to help scope data extraction, migration, and archival. This includes identifying contract renewal dates, system static dates, and A/R wind-down plans to prioritize the order of system decommissioning.
  • Identify Active and Archive Data
Determine which data will be migrated to the go-forward EHR and which will be archived. Our experts can help guide your EHR change management planning and inform system decommissioning and data retention initiatives.

Typically, we convert one to two years of clinical data to the selected EHR. The rest of the clinical data—along with historical enterprise resource planning (ERP), revenue cycle, and other system data—is extracted and consolidated into our active archive, HealthData Archiver®. The archived data is available to clinicians at time of care through secure Single Sign-On capabilities.

Experience With Oracle Health (Cerner) Matters

Our team has deep knowledge of the intricacies of Oracle Health (Cerner) solutions, such as Millennium. This includes:

  • Working with core data, dozens of modules, and extended components such as PowerChart, RadNet, SurgiNet, PathNet, CAMM, Blood Bank, Flowsheets, FetalLink, P2Sentinel, and many more.
  • Supporting the full suite of Cerner Millennium export specifications. With proficiency in blob data storage and event tables, we can activate targeted data extractions utilizing CCL (Cerner Command Language), creating MPages with standard and custom views, and more.
  • Assisting organizations moving to CommunityWorks by converting data into the go-forward EHR and archiving legacy records via HealthData Archiver® for easy, secure access to historical information.

Get The Details

Why Archive Data?

Data Consolidation

By merging numerous legacy data silos into one secure archive, HealthData Archiver® enables accessible, long-term data storage via Single Sign-On from the go-forward EHR (Oracle Cerner or others).

Reduced Costs

Keeping legacy systems running gets expensive, especially maintenance, licensing, backup, and other costs. Older systems are also vulnerable to security breaches.

Enhanced Compliance

HealthData Archiver® complies with record retention mandates and supports the interoperability requirements of the 21st Century Cures Act.

Better Than Backup

A backup copy of your data may be secure, but it lacks the necessary searchability and user workflows of an active archive like HealthData Archiver®.

Extraction/Conversion Success: Jackson Parish Hospital
