Interoperability “the next peak” says Blumenthal

Summary

Dr. Blumenthal emphasizes interoperability, private, secure information exchange, data exchange networks, and governance systems.

As reported by the Healthcare Information and Management System Society (HIMSS), National Coordinator for Health IT Dr. David Blumenthal highlighted Interoperability as the primary focus of the U.S. government’s Office of the National Coordinator (ONC) and the Health Information Technology (HIT) Standards Committee.

Dr. Blumenthal commented that “the next peak” for ONC will be developing interoperability that “allows for private and secure information exchange, networks that allow willing providers to exchange data, and governance systems.” Dr. Blumenthal emphasized that while ONC and the Standards Committee will work on numerous initiatives supporting Meaningful Use and the certification of electronic health records, the Interoperability challenge will be their number one priority.

This underscores Harmony Healthcare IT’s commitment to providing its customers with interoperability solutions.  Contact us if your medical practice needs third-party expertise in planning your interoperability strategy.
